SATELLITE will be held inside of a five story warehouse at 67 Metropolitan Avenue in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Satellite is committed to pushing boundaries and challenging traditional art fair experiences. With 39 presenters, 18 performers and 9 musical acts, this event is destined to stimulate all your senses. You are invited to come collect new works of art, immerse yourself in installations and stay late to dance into the night.
Show Statement
One Eyed Studios Rockella Space Member Britt Harrison will present Blissed, a new exhibition featuring recent paintings and sculptures developed during the Sculpture, Installation, and New Media Residency at the School of Visual Arts. Immersed in the warmth of sun-kissed days, Britt’s art captures the essence of a blissful, endless summer. Through her work, Britt aims to evoke the nostalgia of carefree moments spent under a shifting pink sky, where time slows down, and nature’s beauty becomes a sanctuary. The vibrant gradients encourage the viewer to dream and contemplate. They are meditative and serene dreamscapes that invite the viewer to ascend into the atmosphere.
Britt’s custom-designed panels play with the shapes of rivers. She observes their meandering forms, which cut through the landscape and shape our communities. Humans have formed a spiritual, physical, and mystical connection to bodies of water that goes beyond their function in our survival. We use water to cleanse our bodies daily, but in the presence of a priest, submerging in water can cleanse the soul and wash away emotions such as guilt and shame. Toying with varying water patterns and textures, Britt explores the element’s relationship to light and color and our natural yearning to be submerged.
