Easily one of my favorite things has been watching the community grow, there’s so many types of practitioners here and everyone leaves their mark.I’ve met other artists, made friends, friends of mine have ended up here – and it’s fun running into the wider array of ventures going on in the building. The night times are a very nice time to spend in the building.

I came to Brown Bears Studios when there were no walls just a blueprint and I think was back in 2018. Having affordable studio space in NYC is a gift and I feel so lucky to have this little oasis. The community is always in flux and different people weave in and out but I love my neighbors. We always look out for each other and it is awesome. I get an inside view of the NYC art scene. It is where some miracles are created!

I’ve been fortunate to have a studio at Rockella Space for nearly two years now, and it’s become a sanctuary for me—a space where I can immerse myself fully in my creativity. The natural light in my studio is especially important and the calm atmosphere at Rockella helps my artistic process.

My favorite thing {about having a studio at Rockella Space} is the accessibility along with the community it has offered me. I have been in contact with a few different painters and musicians since I joined Rockella. There’s great work being created all throughout the building, which is inspiring. Some of the connections have become friends, helping with critiques and overall challenging narratives that we explore, which is great. I am forever grateful for the connections I have made through the studio space.

My studio space is really great and I’m going on to my third year. It allows me to set everything up the way I need to. The people maintaining the space are very nice and have done a great job cultivating a place where I can experiment and achieve my artistic vision.

My favorite thing about having my art studio at Rockella Space is the independence and freedom to experiment, create, and grow in my own personal place of artistic ritual. Having a dedicated studio such as this, especially for an artist working in abstraction (which necessitates deep contemplation), has proven essential for actualizing my artistic potential.

This is my second year in my studio and I love it alot! For the majority of my career, I was working out of a home studio, which has its perks, but for me, I need to create a separation of personal and professional space. I am a much more productive person when I can go to the studio, focus on my work, and then leave it there when I am finished for the day.

I have been at Brown Bears for just over a year. To be honest, one of my favorite things is the price! It’s much more affordable than other studios in NYC. Eric, who takes care of the building, is incredibly responsive and kind. And, of course, I love my big gorgeous windows.

I’ve been at One Eyed Studios since 2022. My favorite thing is that it’s only an 18-minute train ride from my apartment in the East Village. It has a beautiful big window with lots of fresh air.

I have had my studio at the Rockella Space for almost two years and the building has been great for me and my process. It has a built-in activity of energetic and talented people but gives me privacy to work and focus. It’s also great that our building is in the center of a larger artistic community of young musicians and artists in Ridgewood

There are many things I love about having a studio at Brown Bears. The building itself has a lot of character and when I am in my studio, I can lose myself in my work. My favorite features are the large windows, high ceilings, and wood floors, which provide proper sunlight.

I moved my painting studio [to Rockella Space] in April 2023. Since I had worked solely in a home studio for years, I sought a space for producing large-scale paintings. The natural light is great here.

Rockella has offered me a space to grow my artistry and connect with other artists across various mediums who are equally as ambitious and passionate about their craft!

When I first visited Rockella, I was taken by the space, particularly the amazing windows and lights. It felt like a space where I could really expand, develop, and feel comfortable.

Having everything in its place and place for everything has allowed me to have a clear headspace, a space to sit and think about what intention I want to put into each soap. Not being forced to spread out all over my apartment has been great.

I have had my studio at Rockella Space since 2020. We have created a dimly lit modern zen-like atmosphere to make the experience of getting tattooed more relaxed. I know maybe half the tattoo artists at Rockella Space and have done a few tattoo conventions with them, which is cool.

I have had my studio at Rockella Space since 2018. With southern and eastern walls full of windows, the light is incredible, making my studio a little slice of heaven on earth. It is walking distance from my house, which is a huge bonus for me.

I moved to Rockella Space in 2022. I love the community of people around me and how we support each other. Sometimes we collaborate on projects, it feels so good to have both your own space and a creative family around.
