GRANT

The Puffin Foundation grant supports projects in fine arts, photography, music, and environmental artistic activism that educate the public on topical issues. Average grants are approximately $1,250.

DEADLINE: December 1st, 2023

WRITING SUBMISSION

Bloodletter encourages female and nonbinary writers of all disciplines to submit work that offers a feminist perspective on the horror genre, or more broadly, the horrific. The theme of this issue is: Phantoms. Additionally, one female or nonbinary artist will be selected to illustrate each issue. Featured artists will receive a $250 stipend.

TOUR GRANT

South Arts’ Jazz Road Tours supports small, three- to six-site tours at an array of venue types, often in rural communities and other areas traditionally underserved by the genre. Grant amounts generally range from $5,000 to $15,000. Professional jazz artists, working solo or working with a composer-led or collective jazz ensemble, are eligible to apply.

EXHIBITION PROPOSAL

The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation is excited to announce the third in a series of open calls, giving curators, academics, and art historians a platform to stage an exhibition at The 8th Floor, our gallery and event space, at 17 West 17th St. near Union Square, NYC.

SEEKING ART

MTA Arts & Design seeks images of artists’ previous work to review in consideration for a new permanent Percent for Art project, in conjunction with the renovation of Huguenot Station in Staten Island. An approved fabricator will translate the final artwork designs into a durable medium. The artwork is projected to be realized in metal. An artist’s prior experience with this material will not be taken into consideration when reviewing images.

NYFA FELLOWSHIP

NYFA provides unrestricted grants of $8,000 to New York-based artists through the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship program. First launched in 1985, the program has provided over $30 million to artists in 15 disciplines at critical stages in their creative development. Award disciplines for 2024 are; Fiction, Folk/Traditional Arts, Interdisciplinary Work, Painting, and Video/Film.

LIVE ART GRANT

In this grant cycle, MAP will distribute $2.8M to more than 90 new live performance projects. Each selected team will receive a $25,000 grant for the creation of a performance project, a $5,000 unrestricted general operating grant, and a $1,000 micro-grant to redistribute to an artist in their community.

QUEENS ARTS GRANT

Flushing Town Hall‘s Arts Grants for Queens programs will fund artists and arts organizations based in Queens, New York, to produce arts and culture projects to be presented in the borough in order to enrich and enliven the community. The Queens Community Arts Grant for organizations awards $1,000 – $5,000 per project. The Artists in Queens Grant for individuals awards $2,500 per artist.

PHOTOGRAPHY FELLOWSHIP

The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG)’s Humanities Institute cordially invites applicants for a nine-month Larry Lederman Photography Fellowship, awarded to an outstanding photographer whose work focuses on gardens or landscapes. The grant is awarded annually to an established or emerging photographer whose work demonstrates excellence and a creative approach to the art of landscape photography.

WRITING SUBMISSION

Sundog Theatre in New York City is seeking one-act plays for “Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry.” This year’s theme is Things Are Not What They Seem. Selected writers each receive $200.

OPPORTUNITY

Feature Creep is seeking submissions from artists, writers, musicians, game makers, and all other types of creatives, in works of any and every medium, which speak to or engage with the genre of Hypermodern Horror. Submitted works will be included in the steadily growing Feature Creep Archive, where they can operate in conversation with other works that touch upon this expanding genre.

The Poetry Society of America has a variety of awards, ranging from $250 to $2,500, for poetry and manuscripts.

SEEKING PROPOSALS

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced it has issued a formal “Market Opportunity” document seeking to fill 30 vacant former retail spaces in the subway system with creative non-traditional ideas such as spaces for arts and cultural programming or socially beneficial community-oriented uses that can make currently unused spaces more vibrant. As the demand for retail space has evolved in recent years, the 30 retail spaces have experienced vacancies because their size limitations make it challenging for revenue-generating businesses to adapt them for traditional retail.
